Integrated Digital Art
This is the “mixed media” of the digital art world. Artists combine any number of digital art techniques using various software applications to achieve unique results.
My artwork frequently begins with a digital illustration over an original photograph. Then I layer in various organic textures, varying color libraries, historical assets and sometimes typography. The final rendering can also differ depending on the printing or cutting technique and substrate used. Art can be reproduced on almost anything and I love experimenting and blending in analog art techniques.
Though I now often use a digital paintbrush as opposed to the natural bristles I once started with, the processes, techniques, and knowledge of good design remain to create the art I now share with my clients. Take a peek at my integrated digital art portfolio.
Souvenir Design
When I was a college student and had the summers off, I had worked retail in Silverton. I began compiling a mental list of all the souvenir requests from our guests that didn’t exist. I kidded with myself that I could open a store and design these items. The majority of Silverton’s souvenirs are generic and name-dropped and I believed that our guests deserved better, after all the trek to Silverton isn’t for the faint at heart.
I left Silverton for a few months in 2010 to care for my sick mother. When she passed away in the beginning of 2011, I needed a significant distraction, so I made the decision to explore new retail ground in Silverton and opened Route 550 Gifts that spring. I had a fantastic nine-year run, and I owe a special appreciation to Wyatt at Outdoor World for hosting me for the last two years. Consolidating our stores meant more time with our newborn daughter. However, circumstances beyond our control in 2019 forced me to transition my storefront to wholesale and online sales solely.
You can now find my products at The 9318 Collective, the Whistle Stop, Station 550, Elevated Coffee Company, or the Silverton Train Store to purchase a unique Route 550 Gift’s souvenir. Take a peek at my souvenir design portfolio.
